Q: What are the four standard BQA school ratings?

The standard school-review judgements displayed by Bahrain School Ratings are Outstanding, Good, Satisfactory and Inadequate. They are official BQA judgements, not scores created by this website.

Q: Is In Progress a BQA rating?

No. Follow-up labels such as Sufficient Progress, In Progress and Insufficient Progress are monitoring statuses and are kept separate from the four standard rating levels in this website's trend calculations.

Bahrain’s Education & Training Quality Authority (BQA) publishes independent school-review judgements. Bahrain School Ratings does not create or alter those official grades; it organizes the published record so the latest result, earlier reviews and direction of change are easier to understand.

Use the grade as evidence, not as a universal ranking. The official review is valuable, but it does not by itself answer every family question about curriculum, fees, location or fit for a particular child.

The four standard school-review grades

Outstanding

The highest of the four standard review judgements.

Good

A positive official judgement, one level below Outstanding.

Satisfactory

A standard judgement that should be read together with the detailed report.

Inadequate

The lowest of the four standard judgements and a result that may be followed by monitoring.

Follow-up statuses are not another 1–4 grade

BQA can publish follow-up statuses such as Sufficient Progress, In Progress and Insufficient Progress. We display these separately instead of pretending they are equivalent to Outstanding, Good, Satisfactory or Inadequate.

Why the review date matters

A published judgement describes a school at a particular review point. Two schools can have the same grade but reviews from different dates, and a school can improve or decline between cycles. That is why our explorer shows publication dates and available review history rather than only a single badge.

What “Improving”, “Stable” and “Declining” mean here

Those labels are our derived analysis, not a BQA ranking. For comparable standard grades we use Outstanding=1, Good=2, Satisfactory=3 and Inadequate=4. If the latest comparable number is lower, we label the direction Improving; if higher, Declining; if unchanged, Stable. Follow-up statuses are excluded from this calculation.

How to use the rating responsibly

Start with the latest result, open the review history, note the review date, and then consult the original BQA report when the decision matters. For choosing a school, combine this with official licensing information, curriculum, fees, location and an actual school visit.
